Atmel today has announced their Sensors Xplained software drivers, a set of drivers that add software sensor support to the Atmel AVR Studio 5 Integrated Development Environment (IDE).
The new Atmel Sensors Xplained software drivers provide software support for a wide variety of sensors. The drivers easily integrate into AVR Studio 5 and provide driver and calibration support.

Hardware Support
The Atmel Sensors Xplained software drivers and expansion boards are plug-in compatible with all AVR Xplained series microcontroller boards. The Sensors Xplained software drivers support calibration and scaling, data conversion and interoperability for supported sensor manufacturers.

There are presently three Atmel Sensors Xplained boards available now:
- Atmel Inertial Sensor Board One
Includes an Invensense ITG-3200 3-axis gyro, Bosch Sensortec BMA150 3-axis accelerometer and AKM AK8975 3-axis magnetometer. Provides 9 degrees of freedom for inertial sensing.
- Atmel Inertial Sensor Board Two
Includes an Invensense IMU-3000 3-axis gyro, Kionix KXTF9 3-axis accelerometer and a Honeywell HMC5883L 3-axis magnetometer. Provides 9 degrees of freedom inertial sensing.
- Atmel Pressure Sensor Board One
Includes a Bosch Sensortec BMP085 barometric pressure for atmospheric and altitude sensing.
